1. Who We Are
NeedleSizeConverter.com is operated by NeedleSizeConverter, which is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at info@needlesizeconverter.com.
2. Information We Collect
You don't need an account to use this site, and it has no forms that ask for your name or contact details. We collect information in three ways:
- Analytics, if allowed (see section 3). We use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may record standard request details: your IP address, the page requested, your browser type, and the time.
- Email. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply.
When analytics is active, it may collect:
- Pages viewed and time spent on the site
- General location (country and city), estimated from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses.
- Device type and browser
- How you arrived at the site (search, direct, or a link from another site)
- A randomly generated identifier, stored in a cookie, that lets Google Analytics recognize repeat visits
We can't tell who you are from this data. However, some privacy laws, including the GDPR, treat online identifiers like these as personal data, so this policy treats them that way too.
3. Cookies & Consent
Whether analytics runs before you make a choice depends on where you are:
- European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: analytics is off until you click Accept on the cookie banner.
- Everywhere else: analytics is on by default, and clicking Decline turns it off.
Google decides which of these applies from your approximate location (based on your IP address) when the page loads. Your own choice on the banner always overrides it, including if you use a VPN or travel.
While analytics is off, Google Analytics sets no cookies. Google may still receive basic signals without identifiers, such as that a page was viewed and your consent choice, which it uses to estimate overall traffic. If you arrive from a Google ad, information about that click may be passed between pages in the link address instead of being stored in a cookie.
If you decline after previously accepting, the site deletes the analytics and advertising cookies it had set on this domain. It can't delete cookies that Google sets on its own domains; you can clear those in your browser settings.
Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of sharing your data for advertising. It doesn't change whether analytics runs. If you click Accept while GPC is on, the banner tells you first that this overrides the signal on this site.
We store your choice in your browser's localStorage under the key nsc_consent, along with the date and whether GPC was on, so the banner doesn't appear on every page. This stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. It expires after 13 months, after which we ask again.

4. Third-Party Services
These services process data on our behalf to run the site:
- Google Tag Manager: loads Google Analytics according to your consent choice. It doesn't set cookies itself (Google Privacy Policy)
- Google Analytics: site usage statistics, as described above (How Google uses information from sites that use its services)
- Google Fonts: the site's font is loaded from Google's servers, which receive your IP address when the font loads (Google Privacy Policy)
- Amazon Web Services: hosting (Amazon S3 and CloudFront), which may keep server logs, and delivery of emails sent to our addresses (Amazon SES) (AWS Privacy Notice)
5. Advertising
This site doesn't currently show ads. We may add Google AdSense in the future. If we do, we'll update this policy first to describe the advertising cookies involved. Advertising will follow the same consent choice and GPC signal described in section 3, and visitors in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland will be asked through a Google-certified consent tool. You can control personalized ads from Google at any time in Google Ad Settings.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
If you're in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on:
- Consent for analytics cookies. You can withdraw it at any time with Cookie Settings, and withdrawing doesn't affect processing that happened before.
- Legitimate interests for server logs (keeping the site secure and working) and for replying to emails you send us.
7. International Transfers
Google and Amazon Web Services may process data in the United States and other countries. Both are certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, including its UK Extension and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the EU, UK and Swiss authorities recognize as providing adequate protection.
8. Data Retention
- Analytics: Google Analytics keeps visitor-level data for 2 months, after which only aggregated reports remain.
- Emails: kept only as long as needed to handle your message.
- Server logs: kept according to our hosting provider's standard settings.
- Your cookie choice: 13 months, on your own device.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you; to object to or restrict its processing; to receive a copy of it; and to withdraw consent. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
US state privacy rights (including California): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to have it deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. We don't sell personal information, and we don't currently share it for advertising. If that changes, the Cookie Settings link and GPC will act as your opt-out. We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Analytics data isn't linked to your name or email, so we usually can't find one person's records in it. Declining cookies, or clearing them, removes the identifier. For any other request, email info@needlesizeconverter.com and we'll respond within the time the law requires.
10. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. If a change affects what you've consented to, we'll ask for your consent again.
